Celebrant FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions. Get in touch if you would like to find out more.

What is a celebrant?

If you're browsing celebrant faqs, it's helpful to know that a celebrant creates and leads personal, meaningful ceremonies – weddings, funerals or memorials, life celebrations, naming days, vow renewals, and more – that are entirely tailored to you. Unlike a standard religious or civil service, a celebrant-led ceremony can be held anywhere, follow any structure you like, and reflect your own beliefs, story, and style. Think of it as your ceremony, written and held around you, not the other way round.

How do I enquire?

Simply get in touch through the contact form or via email with a little about what you're looking for: the type of ceremony, rough date, and location.

What happens after I enquire?

Once I've heard from you, I'll usually suggest a short call or a cup-of-tea video chat and send you a link   to talk through your vision, what matters most to you, and how a ceremony with me might look. If we both feel it's right, I'll send you access to my booking page to secure your date.

How does the process work once I'm booked?

Every ceremony is different, but broadly:

  1. We meet to talk through your story, wishes, and any rituals or symbolism that feel meaningful to you.

  2. I write your a bespoke ceremony script drawn from our conversations.

  3. We review together, refining anything you'd like changed.

  4. On the day, I lead the ceremony so you can be fully present in the moment.

How far in advance should I get in touch?

As soon as you have a date in mind. Weddings and milestone ceremonies are often booked many months ahead, while funerals or celbrations of life are usually arranged at short notice - I always do my best to accommodate these.

Can ceremonies be held anywhere?

Yes. Gardens, woodlands, your own back garden, a hired venue, or somewhere with personal significance to you - a celebrant-led ceremony isn't tied to a licensed venue in the way a legal wedding ceremony is (do check current legal requirements for weddings specifically, as these vary)

Do you offer anything beyond weddings?

Yes - naming ceremonies, funerals and celebrations of life, vow renewals, and other bespoke rituals for life's transitions. I also run a monthly women's circle programme, Get in touch if you're curious about any of these.
